- Can we fish in the lake?
Lake Manseau is not really a good fishing lake, but children can certainly have fun as there are many small fish. - Are dogs allowed?
Yes, dogs are not only allowed but also welcome! The Lièvre Rouge Forest Retreat is the perfect place for your canine companions. - How is the mobile phone reception at the cabins?
There is very little network connection in the cabins. There are some places close to the cabins where it is possible to make a call if needed. - Are fireworks permitted?
Unfortunately, due to the risks and to ensure the peace of mind of other visitors to Lièvre Rouge Forest Retreat, fireworks are not allowed. - Is there room for tents?
We will be setting up rustic camping areas next year, but for the moment, rustic camping is not possible. - How far appart are the cabins from one another?
The two cabins are about 150 metres apart. The dense forest makes each area very private. - Are there any motor boats on the lake or any other sources of noise?
Lièvre Rouge is a shelter so, by definition, it is a very calm and peaceful place. There is very little noise other than the sound of the frogs, the birds, and the wind. - Are you open during winter? And if so, how do we get to the cabins?
The Lièvre Rouge is open all year round, including wintertime. To get to the cabins, you will need snowshoes since it’s a 500 mt walk from the reception area. We provide 2 sleds per cabin so you can bring your equipment with you. - How do we heat the cabin?
As of mid-September, it will be possible to use the wood-burning stoves in the cabins. We will provide wood to keep you warm. - How is The Lièvre Rouge experience like during winter?
If you’re a little bit outdoorsy, you’ll love a cabin stay at the Lièvre Rouge in winter. When you make your reservation, we’ll send you a complete list of basic items to bring along with suggestions and tips to make the experience even more comfortable and magical, but you’ll still need a certain level of experience making and maintaining fires, equipment to stay warm in cold weather, and stamina to make the trip from the parking lot to the cabins. - What is the best time of year to visit The Lièvre Rouge?
Each season has its own charm. We have prepared a full section on our site that goes into more detail about the different seasons at The Lièvre Rouge. - Why do we have to bring our own sheets, blankets and sleeping bags?
We made this decision for hygienic and environmental reasons. Did you know that for every load of laundry we have to use 70 litres of water?For hygiene reasons, blankets and sheets should be washed between each guest, so we opted to limit our impact by asking our guests to bring their own sleeping bags.
