Blog- Echoes from the forest
This summer, slow is the new luxury
What if slowing down was the real vacation?
Far from the rush, the noise, and the over-packed itineraries, slow travel offers a gentler, more mindful, and more meaningful way to explore.
At Le Lièvre Rouge, we invite you to truly disconnect: take a slow walk through the forest, enjoy your morning coffee without a rush, read by the lake.
Simple moments — the kind that help you reconnect with yourself, and with summer.

Spring has officially arrived at Refuge du Lièvre Rouge!
The ice has finally melted off the lake, the loons and spring peepers have returned, and the forest is slowly waking up after a long winter.
This is one of the best times of the year to experience nature in peace, before the arrival of mosquitoes and the busy summer season.
With our weekday promotions, remote work package, and camping options, it’s the perfect opportunity to recharge…

A Dream Taking Shape at the Lièvre Rouge- Woodland Retreat

First, I would like to sincerely thank you for taking the time to read this. Since this is my very first blog post, you are much like those first visitors who trusted us and came to experience a unique nature stay here at Lièvre Rouge back in July 2022. It’s a meaningful milestone for me to finally have the opportunity to share with you the evolution of this project that I am so passionate about, and to talk about the upcoming plans that will make the experience even more special.
I am filled with gratitude and excitement when I think back on everything we’ve accomplished since the arrival of our first guests. What began as a simple idea—to create a unique space where people could reconnect with nature—has transformed into a living, growing project.
We started with the construction of comfortable and welcoming micro cabins, a cozy yurt, and the setup of a tent camping site far from any distractions.
In July 2024, we reached a new milestone by opening our guest pavilion, a central space for our visitors. This pavilion, with its modern and luxurious facilities, also houses the Woodland Café-Buvette, where we offer a carefully curated selection of artisan cocktails, natural wines from Quebec and beyond, as well as local beers. It has quickly become the perfect spot to unwind after a day spent exploring the trails or enjoying outdoor activities like canoeing and hiking.
But this is just the beginning of our adventure. We still have many projects in the works. The Canopy Cabin, which is currently under construction, will be available starting January 1st, offering a completely new and truly immersive experience for our visitors, nestled deep in the forest. We are also working on two new trails: the Otter Trail, which follows the shores of Lac Manseau, and the Deer Trail, which will cross a new section of our forest. These trails will be ready for the winter season, offering new options for snowshoeing and fat biking.
This Blog is going to be an opportunity for me to share the passion that drives this project and to invite you to closely follow its evolution.
The Lièvre Rouge woodland retreat, nestled in the stunning Upper-Laurentians region, continues to grow day by day, and I’m excited to welcome you, whether for a nature stay, a moment of relaxation, or an adventure in the forest.
Thank you again for reading, and a big thank you to those who have already discovered this place.
I invite you to come and enjoy this exceptional spot where you can truly get back to nature.
See you soon at the retreat,
Mathieu
