Activities

Lake Manseau is an ecological lake 2 km long. You can swim and practice water sports such as canoeing, kayaking and paddleboarding. Guests can watch beavers, loons, great blue herons, otters and even turtles on their natural environment. In spring, the lake becomes a frog concert. In July, it’s a festival of water lilies and other aquatic plants, even carnivorous plants. Please note that fishing is not allowed to avoid competition with the lake’s inhabitants.
Lake Camille is a lake that keeps its secrets well since it’s located 2 hours away from the forest. For the moment, it is not possible to practice sports on this lake, but it is in our plans to explore this corner of the retreat in the years to come.
Trails
Le Sentier du Renard (The Fox Trail) is 1.5 KM long from the cabins to the sugar shack. It is ideal for walking with friends or family. On average, it takes 30 minutes to get to the sugar shack.
Le Sentier de la Loutre (The Otter trail) is a short loop being developed that will start and end at different parts of the Fox trail. This is the trail leading to the dock and during the summer of 2024, we will extend this trail to the Amik Lake tent site.
Le Sentier de l’Orignal (The Moose Trail) (under development) will leave from the sugar shack and loop around the western portion of the Retreat, passing through Lac Camille (not pictured on this map). It will be 2.5km long and will have a steep incline. This trail will be ideal for those who want to challenge themselves. It will take an around 1.5 hours to complete this route.

Sugar shack
The sugar shack will serve as a rest stop for those who wish to go snowshoeing from December until the maple sugar time and during the summer.
In addition to all the activities available on site, the retreat is located near the P’tit Train du Nord linear park (for biking), the Kiamika reservoir for canoe-camping adventures, and an hour’s drive from Devil’s Mountain for incredible hikes.
Near the Retreat, you will find a local park called “Boisée Joseph-BB-Gauthier” with trails for hiking, mountain biking or snowshoeing.
In the small village of Saguay Lake, you will find tennis courts, as well as a municipal beach, a local restaurant and a Casse-Croûte.
Rental
As of summer 2023, our guests will be able to rent boats such as kayaks and paddle boards. We also have snowshoes and sleeping bags for rent for guests who don’t have any.
